Title: We can but dream . . .
Post by: Neil on January 10, 2018, 03:47:24 PM
In all my detecting years I have only found three pieces of BA axe heads and yet been present on several occasion when DW members have found them. Picture of 185 recently found attached!

2 separate hoards containing 185 axes and a large quantity of ingots, dating to the late BA (ca. 1,000 BC), discovered at Driffield in east Yorkshire, England. The site is believed to have been a metal worker’s workshop.

Fantastic find - I've only found part of one - and that's a precious enough find for me.

I drove past Driffield at the New Year (my in-laws are County Durham / North Yorkshire based) - I sometimes wonder how - especially with a hoard that size - it has been missed in the past.

A cracking find, I've had many pieces off axe fragments, yet to find a while one. May be best to melt down the bits I got and make one.lol.

What a find/s just look at the colour, great.
I’ve wondered, in the past, how many times some of us have ignored a signal because we’ve thought it was just too big.
Having said that I did go back and investigate one. Spent ages digging through roots to find........an old cattle grid. ::)
