Title: Last Trip Out
Post by: celticspikey on December 16, 2017, 04:38:32 PM
Nothing too exciting guys, just a little mix. Best of the lot is the Roman bronze coin with the hole drilled out probably during the Saxon period ? the little bronze square mount with the decoration on looks Medieval. May be off a mount or sorts.  ;)

Interesting mix there Paul. Remind me what was decided about those ‘acorn’ shaped thingies. I see you’ve found a few over the last few outings and remember there was quite a bit of discussion as to what they are.
Keep them coming. Some of the most interesting are some of the less valuable.

Thanks Val, there copper alloy strap fitting/ belt mounts of the 13th - 15th century. Sometimes referred to hangarade mounts due to there shape. I have found quite a few on medieval sites. I totally agree with you, sure it's great to find the more valuable finds but the small items and artefacts some times are more intersting and have an equally important role and connection to history.  ;)
