Post by: dingdong on September 19, 2017, 04:44:44 PM Hi everyone,Well after a long absence of "coil to the soil detecting I had my first day back on to the fields..and what a great day it proved to be..gotta say that I'm still very impressed with the MAKRO "racer"(red!...it really is a very capable machine,this one being the second one I have purchased,even better with the addition of a Mars TIGER coil.. extremely deep and very very sensitive.
All the Roman coins were at an appropriate depth of over seven inches.on very wet pastures,the Victoria shilling was at a depth of only a couple of inches. I keep looking at it but still cannot be certain...perhaps the "Doc" would be kind enough to have a close look at it. And as you say,if it is hat old it certainly would place the Roman occupation of West Wales a heck of a lot earlier than originally thought.
