Paul, I have had a quick look but afraid I cant ID it, what an absolutely lovely coin though, the detail on it is beautiful. Your mate must be absolutely chuffed to bits with it.  ;D ;D

Oooooo.  Aaaa.  Wow.  Beautiful.  Makes you wonder how the plough has missed it so many times over the years.
Would be enough for most to just see one and touch it. Lucky man.

You next Paul   ;)

Stunning coin Paul.  Well saved by your mate.   It is this one:-

Edward III: AV noble. 1354–1355. Pre-treaty period, series E, London mint.

Cheers and happy Digging!!  Tom.

I know Val, the field in question had a combine catch fire this year as well and lost half the crop very close to coin find. I reckon brought up this year by the plough especially as we had gone over it well last year...but as you know just have to be a few inches out..lol.

I'm not sure it is series E as that is known as the 'broken letter' series (I have a half noble of that type).

I'll see if I can look it up later, but I find these, let's say a bit challenging to get the correct series....lovely find though :)

Hi Roland......I think its Fourth coinage, Pre-treaty period, variation of s1490..

Hi Roland......I think its Fourth coinage, Pre-treaty period, variation of s1490..

Series E is part of the fourth coinage, pre-treaty, it's just finding the correct series (or mule if it is one). The half I have has very distinctive broken Es and Rs - hopefully at some point when I am more awake I will get a photo to demonstrate (I've looked at it this evening, but not when I was near my phone!).

Great find!! cheers for the heads up Paul it was nice to see.

I agree with the you and roughneck its could be series E  s1488 or series G s1490 theres very little in the two you may need better photos to be sure, the mintmark is also cross 3  ;)
