I know Val, the field in question had a combine catch fire this year as well and lost half the crop very close to coin find. I reckon brought up this year by the plough especially as we had gone over it well last year...but as you know just have to be a few inches out..lol. Series E is part of the fourth coinage, pre-treaty, it's just finding the correct series (or mule if it is one). The half I have has very distinctive broken Es and Rs - hopefully at some point when I am more awake I will get a photo to demonstrate (I've looked at it this evening, but not when I was near my phone!). I agree with the you and roughneck its could be series E s1488 or series G s1490 theres very little in the two you may need better photos to be sure, the mintmark is also cross 3 ;) |
