i had to reduce mine to under 300kb to enable them to work? even though the error message said it had to be under 400kb (they were all below this figure already?)  ???

This has always been a serious limitation to this great website, (I say this because another metal detecting website I use, has a much larger limit for photos) when I first joined I tried a number of times to post my finds, eventually giving up as I kept getting an error message.
I use an I-pad and have now found two apps to help, but it is a bit of a fiddle.
First I use 'Photo Shrinker' (free not pro) then use 'Image converter' (free) to convert to .gif.
It works if you can be bothered 😕

Yes,I totally agree with Gregg,I have always posted pictures the way that Gregg discribed and never had any problems, yes it probably is a bit long winded but once you have done it a couple of times it becomes second nature.
P.S :I've always used a Tablet and Android system no problem.
Good hunting..👍

Its dead easy as long as you use a good photo editor, dont convert to gif as thats a really lossy format (max 256 colours as well), jpeg (or jpg) is fine, just keep it to below 400KB and away you go, try resizing to 1024 x 768 pixels or there abouts, that should do it...

If you are using a PC try using IRFANVIEW and download and install the plugins, you can then edit a directories worth at a time and its all free...

I'm attaching a 382KB jpeg here which is 1616 x 1620 pixels just to show it works fine...  why would anyone want to post anything larger, click on it, its massive ...  OOooeerrr ;)
