Here's the 12th-13th cent mount I found a while ago and shown on a previous post.
It has now been professionally restored.....cost £110..
I didn't want it to degrade any more hence restoration, it may be the cost of restoration has exceeded its value? I'm not sure however it's done now.

Feel free to give your opinion.

Hi Paul,well purely on a personal note I would say that the restoration was worth every penny....very courageous of you to submit it to a clean....100%...👍

Thanks Chris, Despite all my years of detecting, I have never had the time or patience to learn conservation skills. The chap I use conserves and restores high value objects for collectors and museums, so I guess some one mite tell me I could have had it done cheaper.  ;)

Sometimes it's worth spending a little more to preserve something as rare and special as that.
At least youll get pleasure from looking at it for years to come.

It's a fantastic find and worth the care it's been given, well worth the money.
