I haven.t a clue sorry but it looks a very interesting find greg,  I am sure someone will be along very shortly who will have an opinion.

Could be an end cap off something.

Could be a palm guard used by leather workers.Seems to be some indentations which might indicate use of bodkin or such instrument.

Hey Onehorse,hats a very good suggestion,and you may certainly be on the right lines,might be well worth googling palm guards!!..just a suggestion..👍

Thanks for the suggestions, the best idea seems to be the palm guard, did a google and there are similarities, the only thing that throws me is why double sided. Unless it was for an ambidextrous leather worker.
Will give to FLO, as long as he doesn't throw it at me.
