Title: Roman Ring
Post by: celticspikey on May 15, 2017, 08:18:29 PM
Hi guys, I had this little bronze ring last week, amazed it has survived. I guess it dates to 100 AD-200 AD. and is of anthropomorphic design. Incidentally the brooch shown also has a similar face appearance (showed on a previous post) I thought I would show for comparison.
Happy hunting.  ;)

Another wonderful find Paul. I remember the brooch and agree, it is similar.

It's almost the sort of image you'd expect to see in Celtic art. Makes you wonder what the influence was.

Interesting stuff as always - they're a bit different from the usual stuff that comes up :)

Did wonder if I would see you in the fields on Saturday as I was in Bath for the day, coming in from the M4. There were some very nice looking fields, but I didn't see anyone out and about.

Hi Roland, not really my patch that area supprisingly, I know the fields look intersting around that area I do know that some of the fields around there have been searched many years ago by various people. Some of the landowners do not allow searches. That said I have picked up a farm not far away just have to pop in and get the lie of the land and farm boundaries.  ;)
