a friend found this coin and im a bit stumped to be honest , any info would be greatly apprieciated

That's a strange one Paul - not sure if it's a continental imitation or a contemporary forgery.

Is it silver - hard to tell from your pictures?

yes peter it seems to be silver and i thought maybe edwared iv Drogheda Mint , which is a rare irish mint

It doesn't look like any of the Irish Pennies I have (or have owned) - firstly it's on a fully struck and full flan - you just don't get them like that - the mint signature is always the first casualty. Secondly, the style is wrong - unless you have enhanced the edge sharpness on your image - it looks wrong, and the lettering doesn't look right - it seems more like something - at best - non official - in fact it reminds me most of something that someone like Grunal the moneyer has made.
