Title: Trade weight? Post by: simond on February 14, 2017, 06:50:01 PM Hi all,
I have here what I think is a lead trade weight with four vertical lines cut into one side. It measures 1.5" in diameter, 7/16" thick and weighs 3.8oz (now). If I'm correct in assuming it's a 4oz trade weight then what period would this be from? I would appreciate any suggestions. Kind regards, Simon. Title: Re: Trade weight? I wasn't sure about the marks being Roman as it's got four (IIII) and not Roman numerals but it tallies with the weight. It would be nice if it was :)

I only realised what it was a few days later when I removed all the dried clay and, there was me thinking the day was a bust. Just goes to show that you should clean and check everything! :)
