As the location of the find spot is not very far from a barracks used by the british army, in the 18th and 19th century, i would venture to suggest that the coin was dropped by a soldier returning to barracks after the campaign. Interestingly, my colleague found another one today, in the same field!.

Perhaps the six pointed star has symbolism other than the Jewish "Star of David".
