Title: Bronze age spear head
Post by: wagis on July 25, 2016, 09:12:15 PM
Hi all, managed 2 hours out yesterday on a new small field before the rains started, found a bronze age spear head about 4 inches long and some other strange bits particularly the heavily patterned piece that is about 1 inch long but no idea what except I think its silver

Cracking finds Wagis, apart from the BA spear head, the silver strap end  is bloody special and definitely one for a FLO to have a look at. Finding it hard to date, may fall into Saxon in design.

Keep them coming - more to be found there without a shadow of doubt.

Cheers
Neil

Excellent search Wagis, an exciting field with great history. Love the spear head, but  the silver strap end takes pride of place, I'm with Neil, looks like it could be Saxon period may be from the continent  :-\ :-\. Thanks for posting. ;)

I can only echo what has already been said, the spearhead lovely, the strap end beautiful and would agree although I am no expert certainly looks Saxon to me.

Thanks for all the nice comments everyone, I informed the FLO this morning about the strap end in case it is declared treasure, unfortunately I won't be able to go back on that field for a while as the grass is growing fast making it difficult to swing low to the ground.
