I can even remember him finding his gold sovereign (2nd picture) as if it was yesterday (I'm pretty sure that was Geoff's neck of the woods) - He screamed out with delight when he found it. Sad times. Maybe the next DW rally can partly raise some funds in his memory?

I didn't recognise the name but do remember the face.  He was brought to see me by his mate to show me his Sovereign (which he did with great pride) He like so many others made such a fuss of me I felt like visiting royalty.  A lovely fella who will be sadly missed and remembered for a long time.

Never knew the gent, but clear from the posts he was well regarded and liked, let's hope the fields are rolled and are seeded up there for him.
