Def. A medical bracelet with blood group, rare blood group.  Made in Birmingham, Anchor, but can't tell if the last letter, for date, is   C or G.

Cracking bit of silver, well found.  Makes me wonder why you were asking for advice a few days ago. You seem to be doing very well on your own.

Think gold affects us all differently.  Some seem to do a spontaneous disco jig, some do a conga like circle round the hole. Me I just stood there for minuets, just looking at it and saying over and over Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou. Must admit to feeling a bit weak at the knees though and my biggest admission was crying when I phoned John and told him. ::) ;D

Working on the assumption the end letter is 'C' it would be 1977.
The only reference I could see to the maker, D & DS was just that, no other info. other than a bracelet is recorded with those marks and dated 1978.
Given the number of silversmiths there used to be in the Jewellery quarter I'm not surprised. They came and went like the rain down here.

When I got home there was a poster on the fence saying   SILVER,  GOLD,  WHAT  NEXT ???

John was just as excited as me, bless him  ;D

i think your right someone said C was 1952 but the C on the medi tag dosent look like the 1952 C i seen on Google ....when i got home they were already sick of me talking about it ha ha

good point ha ha probably not  .... its a different shape C  anyway so im certain your date of 1977 is the right one..  sods law though that the important part the date letter is bleared when all the other marks are clear ha ha :D

probably just coincidence and my over active imagination but when i showed the farmer he said he had never seen it before but in the early 1980's there had been a private plane crashed in the area of the find  :-[

Certainly an odd find as Val says I too think it's 1977 but it's not your average medi bracelet as the blood group is the second most common so nothing important there, blood group bracelets were common(ish) in WWII more so with the American forces than here in the UK, it could be worth following your "over active imagination" and trying to find out if the pilot was ex military  :-\

There were still a lot of Americans over here in the 80's.  Remember the headlines  'It's Official, UFO Lands in Suffolk'
Rendlesham Forest to be exact.  Right next door to an American Air Base.

One question though,  don't you think there would have been a name on it  or some form of I.D.

All very intriguing

The name would have been on the official dog tags but the blood group isn't always also covert ops personnel don't wear dog tags at all :-\

i scoured the internet and library today but can't find a medi bracelet like it but it must of been important to the owner to print there blood type on silver another of life's little mysteries that make detecting so addictive ha ha I shall keep looking though

It wouldn't have been standard issue so must have belonged to a private individual. Little chance of locating the owner I would think.
They became popular to wear just as jewellery so my guess is it's just another unfortunate loss. Go find another but mind you don't get washed away.

Hi Raistlain

Nice find and all I can find that is similar to the D & B S mark shown in this link.....

http://www.silvermakersmarks.co.uk/Makers/Birmingham-D.html (http://www.silvermakersmarks.co.uk/Makers/Birmingham-D.html)

and the date seems similar to the 1077 shown in this link.....

Some good sites there for researching silver marks.

Told you that 2 days ago.  Always remember, 'The truth is out there'  (and usually on Google)

if you find a site that you think can be useful either 'bookmark' it or 'save to favourites'.  There's one for you, it's always useful................http://www.ukdfd.co.uk/ceejays_site/index.htm (http://www.ukdfd.co.uk/ceejays_site/index.htm)

There's plenty more, as you will find out as you do more research.

Very interesting - I was going to comment that A Rh+ wasn't rare - that's my blood group (only found out last year) - I was hoping for A Rh- as that's my old man's blood type.

For a while I was worried that when I drove my missus' car people would think I had O+ type blood as that is her type and it was on the key ring........
