Title: Demetae
Post by: wittsy1 on October 12, 2015, 07:01:45 PM
Evening all, been doing a bit of reading about the resident Celtic tribe of Pembrokeshire, the Demetae. there does'nt seem to be any reference to coinage anywhere. Did they use coinage and if so have there been any recorded finds in Pembrokeshire.

No witty,  they didn't have their own coinage. Coins weren't widely used over here till the 1600's.  Cattle was the rate of exchange.

No I'm afraid that none of the tribes that occupied what is now Wales used coinage ;)
