Title: You know what Chef? You were right!!
Post by: dingdong on September 29, 2015, 08:23:20 PM
Not long ago I asked Chef for his honest opinion when I was deciding whether or not I should part with my GT to get a much lighter machine like the NOKTA FORS
CoRe.
Chef said yes,the CoRe is a good machine,OK! And yes its quite a bit lighter than the GT......great!!
Says I,what's it like on the beach?hmmmm!!!! says Chef"you probably come off the beach wondering how much you have just walked over that you Wouldn't have done with your "Sovereign GT"
Well Chef,your only 100% correct.!!!!👍
What a complete waste of bloody time that was today!!
P.S.Anyone want ta sell their Sovereign GT????........ :'( spot on Chef)

What other machine is an "acceptable" option for the beach?
Bearing in mind it's the lightness I am after, also, budget!! ???

That wasn't a GT it was an Elite but all the Sovereigns have the same performance changes between models were for sales pure and simple.
As I've said before nothing comes close to the Sov so if you want a lighter machine stay inland or take up knitting  ;)

Should have kept my old beauty Chris, I think that I can give account of both machines now, as having used the gt,plus elite for meny hours, and now the etrac,  I believe the gt, is deeper, has no problem working in the water, but will null out in iron and coke, but the etrac will weed out the goodies in the iron beds, sensativity has to be maxed out to get near the depth of the gt, and it's got to be knocked back, working in the waves, gt raw power, etrac more refined, is it worth the £500, difference when both were in production, not so sure.

Well I was very pleased with my Deus on the beach this afternoon.  My settings seem to work quite well.  I only went really to get away from the Bamboo for a couple of hours, knew I wouldn't find much, nobody does at Saundersfoot.

I never have the intention of digging 2ft down, too much like hard work, usually for nothing. Smallest find, a little swivel at about 8in. Thank goodness for Mr.Garrett or I'd never have found it in the sand & black that came out.
The largest item, nearly blew my ears off,   a Man Hole Cover, with just a covering of sand.

Save up and get a Deus Chris.  If it's there and you walk over it the Deus will find it.

I'm the same Chris but occasionally I get the urge to see the sea and hear the gulls calling. Always the same though, never find much round here.

Hi Val re your comments on Saundersfoot must say if you catch it right its a productive beach
Its the only Welsh beach i have had a 4 gold ring day these were all found at the depression in the sand below the regular fishing area way down the beach my mate had 3 the same day you are correct in the fact that most of the beach above this area is nothing but a rubbish trap though
Has been spoiled a bit because when they dredge out the muck from the harbour they dump it on the sands just below the low tide mark to let the incoming tide spread it all out...PaulB.

How many years ago was that Paul ?  I know the occasional nice find comes up but in general, these days it's very spartan.

I went down one day and was horrified to see some one had dumped a load of building rubble at the top by the slip way. It wasn't cleared away and eventually just got spread around. Can you imagine what ass''''' could do that ?  I used to see an elderly gent who showed me where he said he always found something nice. That day was the 1st time he went home empty handed. I wander over the same spot every time I go but I've only ever had weights.
I think I know the depression you mean. If I'm right it's not safe. It's a mud trap and I avoid it.
It's a hard beach to figure and doesn't give up it's treasure without a fight.

Well, well well Holmes, sounds like a fair old pickle he's in,AH!!!!Watson, that's where you are completely wrong,it maybe appear that a pickle is present,BUT,the Chef does know his onions, that's is why he is so appealing!! By God Holmes!!I would never have thought of that, " a pealing" an " onion"that would certainly explain the tears!!! Wrong again Watson, the tears were real,he was really crying someone shot his damnable hound!!!
By gods Holmes how do you come to such logical conclusions ?
Elementary my dear Watson,elementary!!.
