Title: 2 rings and a silver 'button' coin
Post by: Tafflaff (Rob) on August 20, 2015, 05:33:32 PM
Guys these came up last two outings and I'd be grateful for you suggestions on the button and rough age of the rings. The rings are both copper/bronze alloy and the button is Solid silver with a hoop crudely soldered onto the back. There is an 'S' stamped on the back. It really does look like a coin made into a button and would be William 6d size.

EDIT Oh and the key, would be great to have an age for thanks

Well done Taff I'd say both rings were 19th century and once gilded the button is an odd one as it seems like a lot of work to go too, rubbing down and bevelling the edge but I guess it would be a lot cheaper than buying silver buttons and my guess would be late 18th.
Now the key is a different story.....a classic shaped medieval casket key 12th to 15th century ;)
