Title: Rally Etiquette
Post by: detectingly on April 10, 2015, 12:06:42 PM
So this Sunday will be my second DW rally...and I wanted to ask a question...

What's the etiquette/standard procedure for what to do with something that you dig up that is really heavy? Do you have to trudge back to the car with it, or is it OK to put it at the side of the field until it's time to go home, then take it away with you? I do understand that you can't just leave things on the surface or re-bury them, but do you really have to cart it off to the car immediately?

I dug up a lump hammer in the back garden this morning, and was thinking that would be a right pain if I had to carry something similar around all day at a rally...  ;D

Apologies if that's a dumb question!

If you get some big Iron there is always the butt of a hedge or ditch around the field, I take mine with me till I get to the edge of the field then put in the base of the hedge.

And seeing as we are talking etiquette its worth reminding everyone to fill their holes, oh, and Grass looks better Green side up...    ;)

Think some of you might be a bit confused. I'm joining forces with Da Monkey. 1 little lady with 1 little hairy dog on a stretchy lead.  Bet some of you will have trouble telling which one is which.  ::)

Word of warning..........He's a Guard Dog. :D :D ;)

(P.S.  I've just seen GIJAN on ITV)  Good footage and advert for hobby.

Hey detectingly, you reminded me that me that I found a Lump Hammer a few years back.  I carried it around with me to take home to show Hubby.  It weighed 7lb.
I couldn't believe the weight of my finds bag when I took it off. I nearly dropped it.  Mind you that was back in the days when I dug EVERY signal. I've got more sense now.
