Title: My First Complete Seal....
Post by: 150aceboy on February 18, 2015, 08:44:14 PM
Out for a couple of hours today, found 2 x two shillings, 2 x George V pennies, Vicky Half Penny, an old 50p, then this little beauty popped out.
A lovely seal, my first complete seal  :) :)
Any idea's on age etc would be much appreciated  ;)

Oh that's a bit special a tamper seal not 100% but I think they are generally dated to the 16th-17th century and pretty rare ;)

Cheers all, i'm over the moon with it  :) :)
When it first came out, my first thought was a pipe tamper, until i seen the initials on the bottom, so came to the conclusion it was a run of the mill seal  ::).
Thanks Geoff for I.D.
One for the FLO as said above  ;)

Lovely item and agree most likely early 17thC.

Real beauty - we all love unearthing a decent pipe tamper or a seal - congratulations you have both!

This is the best tamper I have uncovered to date after it had been waxed.

Toffee hammer my foot! Although granted it does look like one.

I bet the item next to it is giving you goosebumps in anticipation of a glorious day in the future!

No see unlike you I'm a realist and after years of lusting after one I now see that it's just never going to happen :'(
