Ouch that would hurt, what would the incentive be for declaring things in the future. Quite disgraceful to be honest

Fantastic find - although it would be good of the state to award the divers something - even if it is a token payment for their honesty.

I know this is a bit radical but...........maybe honesty ;D but your right and that's why so many historical items end up on the black market and lost, it should be remembered here that the UK is one of only a handful that give statutory payments for items which is why it grates with me when someone is moaning (we Brits are good at that) that they want more money for this or that find, consider yourself lucky you get anything.

If it was me and I still had the coins in my possession I would have taken them back out to sea and dumped them over board .

I thought you were a Welshman (not a Brit)...Valuations are a thorny subject Geoff....My valuation and reward was fraction for finding a Bishops ring in comparision to a very ring in Somerset given back to owner for open auction..I SUPPOSE THATS THE WAY THE COOKIES CRUMBLES  ;D
