The 2nd hammered coin is an Edward VI shilling (1547 - 53) ;)

Thank you Ben.  I thought it may be but I thought it was a Stuart shield.

And another just now, what a site this is!
A huge thank you to Deadlock for the invite.

The first coin, more fully id' is this:-

EDWARD III 1361 HALFGROAT. Treaty period. London mint. Doublr Annulet stops on Obv. MM CROSS POTENT. S1621

Post by: probono on January 05, 2015, 03:59:13 PM
Second one is in nice nick for an Edward IV:

1549 Shilling, Second Period, 1549-1550, mintmark arrow

The one I found was cream crackered, but it could have been an even baser 3rd period shilling

Post by: probono on January 05, 2015, 04:03:44 PM
Last one looks like a Henry V York mint penny (mullet to left of crown).

A bit later than the 4 half groats - that it is a bit on the wild side - when I found a clump of coins there was only one half groat in there.

The other three half look to be earlier series (one of them looks like class C c. 1351 or so)

Great start to the new year lads'. That's what detecting should be about, esp the Edward shilling...nice. I'm off out to some new land myself in a bit but bet I won't be that lucky. Well done though.  :)

Unfortunatly it isnt as good as the photo may show, its been bent like a love token and the top fold is badly cracked and only just about intact.
Many thanks again for the detailed ID's on all the coins
Cheers Ian

Unlikely now to flooding, although the signals should be good nice and loud on the deeper ones.
