Title: Minelab Coil 'lugs' broken.
Post by: Mrs Steptoe on December 17, 2014, 08:47:42 AM
Has anyone else had a problem with the 'lugs' (which hold the handle bolt) breaking on a Minelab coil?
I really like using the small 18.5 eliptical coil on my 705 as it is so light, but now it is useless. :'(
Any ideas on fixing it appreciated.Such a shame as the coil itself is working fine.
    Thanks. Mrs.S. :)

Good Morning Mrs S. :)

Someone else had the same problem a few months ago but I can't remember who.  If you've got the bit that broke off I believe it's poss to mend and reinforce it.

Maybe whoever it was will see you post and advise.

Val

The same thing happened to me a few years ago. I fixed it with a small fibreglass repair kit from a car accessories shop. It wasn't particularly pretty but it did the job.

Glad you got it sorted.  There's something very comforting to know there are still 'nice' people around.  :)

If anybody else has this problem use some pvc sheet and make sure you use the solvent cement/glue that plumbers use on plastic pipe from a diy store. "Welds" the plastic together.

I hope that I never need to use the diy advice given but greatly apreciate the information. This forum is a mine of good advice and information!  ;)
