Title: Victorian or Pre Roman ? Post by: U.K. Brian on June 08, 2009, 03:27:03 PM These two bronze/copper items came from the same site, a ridge on a hill. There's a Roman site off in one direction and a pre Roman burial site in the other.
Coil size is 11" to give an idea of scale. Both are solid metal. An experts opinion was that they are Victorian coat hooks. Another expert sent me a picture of a burial waggon/cart that had two similar items sticking out with the reins hanging over them. Anyone seen anything similar ? Title: Re: Victorian or Pre Roman ? Post by: Neil on June 08, 2009, 03:38:26 PM I'm no expert Brian, but they look very much like they have been machine turned to my eyes, so I am weighing in on the Victorian side - sorry. Also my local pub has very similar coat hooks to this.
