Title: Now the end is near
Post by: Dryland on December 01, 2014, 08:23:49 PM
Now the end of 2014 is near, it may be interesting to list some of this years best finds. For me it's :-

1] Early Medieval Gold ring

2] Vessica seal

3] Hammerd coins x 3

4] Victoria silver coins  x 6

5] George Silver coins x 7

6] Modern Gold Ring x1

7] Modern silver ring x 2

I've only been out 9 times this year which going back to 2011 wouldn't have even equated to 2 weeks worth of detecting :'( that year I had 35 hammered and 127 Roman coins as my 12 month tally. But in the sense of productivity for hours spent this year's measly total of 2 hammered, 1 Saxon sceat, 5 Roman and 2 fibula is probably the best ever ;D

Yes, it goes like that sometimes - I've found no gold at all this year, but last year managed 3 gold items, and the year before more (although they were in the same hole so, I'm not sure that counts) - have found 6 hammered this year (and a silver roman too), but for me the highlight of the year was a viking weight - basically a lump of lead with some inlaid bronze, but it's something that adds to the history of my part of Wales.

Here we go again  ::)   Poor Dylan. It's a good job you've got a sense of humour. They'll be calling you Father Christmas next. :o

Come to think of it, you'd make a cracking Father Christmas. All you need is a beard. ;D  and a Roman coin. ;)
