A great read John. I have to agree about getting some decent pics of a nice find find before handing it in.
A few years ago I found a beautiful medieval gold ring which I only took a few snapshots of. I have since regretted not getting some decent shots, the ring was acquired by Chester museum and despite me visiting a couple of times, I havnt seen it since handing it in.

Yes, good read - I agree to that you should take lots of photos of your treasure finds - and try and avoid camera shake too!

Thought it would of been worth more than 700 looks so nice guess treasure can be cheap too

Great story, as for the museums bargain price of £700 I do hope the finder and landowner agreed to donate part of the true value ::) because that seems a low valuation? Great find though  ;)
