Hi,

Anything to watch out for when buying a pin pointer, they seem to range from £20 to £100+

Any AVOID items out there?

Can't go wrong with a Garrett I have seen a couple of new models which look very simaler in design demonstrated and they seem to only pick up things on the tip of the pointer .Also I don't like the adjustable sensitivity on some models I don't want to be messing about once I've found my hoard the Garrett does what it's ment to.Anyone else have any views?

Garrett pro pointer is very overpriced for what it is hand to send my first one back for exchange after 6 months due to falsing they also have reports of poor switches . But at the moment they may well be the best out there , buy new and keep sales receipt in case of problems as guarantee last 2 years. There are others with 2 years guarantees but will they still be trading after 2 years. ???

Tried quite a few in the past, but got to say its a Garrett Pro Pointer for me, great little tool  ;)

The garrett is great when it is new, but I'm pretty fed up with the fact that with both of mine (and I was much more careful with the second one) have falsing issues when they're about 6 months old.

I dry it out regularly, I've even left it in the car so that the relative humidity of it is the same as the surrounding air, but compared to what it was like when it was new, it's become disappointing.

Yeah I'm happy wiv mine, its not falsed once, but how long will it last .???

I ave had a garrett for a year now and had no problems to date and been very satisfied with it, hope it stays that way

I got myself one of the new PI X pointers, and I have to say that I am delighted with it, so far. At £65 it's a bit cheaper than the Garrett, no falsing issues, bright yellow so even I can see it, and easy as pie to use. Detectorbits seem to stand by them, and I can't fault their service to date.

I've had the Garrett Propointer for a couple of years and recommend it - never had any problems  and works as well as it did when new.

vibra tech models are sturdy and submersible if you want super strong ,but nobody seems to stock them in UK

Damn this thread...  Just bought myself a MAKRO Pointer after seeing the vids, like idea of being waterproof and the way it works, Deadlock seems happy enough with his, so I thought what the...    Usually use the Garrett but was tempted with this other, will report back, only time will tell...
