Well this old lady was cream crackered all day yesterday. By the time I'd walked the dogs and done a couple of jobs my legs and arms were screaming at me. I sat down for a bite and cuppa mid-day and virtually passed out.  Wait till you're as old as me Doug  ::) ;D

That should be called the buckle field. Looks like you had another good session.  Is that a seal you've got there ? Have you 'stamped' it yet ?

Best I can do Val, looks like a lion slaying a dragon, or put it another way, I am guessing!

No Doug, it's George slaying the Dragon.   My memory is a bit slow these days but I do remember reading something about it.  I don't think the idea of George was British, it was borrowed.  That's about all that comes to mind at the mo.

Looks like a very interesting find. ;)

Lovely find Doug and I think your spot on with what it depicts, the lion seems to have wings as does the Lion of St Mark and as he was an evangelist I think it represents Christianity conquering paganism which is usually represented by the dragon ;)
