Hereford metal detecting club will be holding a special talk and practical demonstration by Hammered coin expert "Dave the Moneyer" Grunal Moneta on 27th November at the club venue in Hereford.

I think this will be a great opportunity - we don't find many hammered but it will be so interesting to see how exactly they were made (not on the telly or tube but in real life!) . follow the link on the moneyer's advert above and see what is available.

  I just want to say 'Thank You' to the Hereford Club for hosting the very interesting and informative Hammered Coin Talk and Demonstration last night; and Thank You to Da Monkey for inviting non-members like myself and my husband.
  I really enjoyed the evening and learned a lot about the history and the manufacture of the coins that we love to see come up when we detect.Dave the Moneyer was entertaining and obviously an expert in his craft.
  We all had the opportunity to strike our very own 'Hereford' hammered coin and the evening was rounded off with an excellent buffet and raffle.
   I believe Dave is at the Ludlow Fair this week-end,so if you are in the area pop in and see him.

Thank you Anne Marie it was absolutely brilliant night and listening to dave extremely knowledgeable about coins,  will post photos later.

It was a good night I think, everyone seemed to enjoy it, thanks for coming along Mr & Mrs Steptoe :) We are pleased you took up the offer and hope you'll come along to any future events :)
