Title: Coin or not a coin..... that is the question?
Post by: Iron Giant on July 23, 2014, 06:56:17 AM
This incomplete item is 1mm thick and when it came out of the soil, some areas of it had a lilac hue!

Any help appreciated  ;)

The lilac can often signal that it's silver, have you tried a bit of wet foil on it to test it? If it is silver then the size is about right for a groat and given it's in a pretty bad state then possibly a debased silver which may point to Henry VIII or Elizabeth ;)
