Title: Enamelled piece , viccy 6d, Henry penny
Post by: hedgehog on June 03, 2009, 05:52:45 PM
Out today, found a couple of battered silver thimbles and these three bits.
Think the penny is Henry VI , calais mint rosette mascle?

Intrigued by the enamelled piece looks quite old any ideas? Thanks for looking.

Great finds. I believe you're spot on with the hammered ID. Not sure about the enamelled bit - is it thick and cast or thin and stamped?

Just over 1mm in thickness Peter but appears to be cast bronze on the enamelled end but thin on the other end where it has been flattened by machinery, looks and feels old, the bronze has flaked on the back and getting the crumbling effect on the edges. Dunno where to look to find something similar?
It was in the same area as the Henry VI!
Thanks for the nice comments guys.
