The one on the right is a coin of Victorinus (c.269-271AD) it's a base antoninianus

The other coin has a reverse of 'FEL TEMP REPARATIO' - it looks small enough to be a half centenionalis and dates to 348 to about 360 AD.

They were found in forestry about half a mile from camp ... I can't dig on actual site as it's a registered ancient site .. But the forestry around it's not ;-)

Forestry? Private I hope as there's a total ban on forestry commission land ;)

Hmm, that's interesting to hear - I contacted them about some land that they manage a few years ago regarding excavation (as I want to do a dig there) and they didn't mention a blanket ban on such things (but did want me to fill in a risk assessment form etc) - contacted the landowner as well, but I need to write him a letter rather than just phone him.

Ah now there's a bit of a difference between an archaeological dig and metal detecting but unless you've got a few years field archaeology experience or at least an archaeology degree that you haven't told us about then you don't stand much chance :(

My mate was the Forestry Ranger / game keeper [ just retired ] and I can assure you, that anyone tresspassing in Llanwonno forestry
was firmly dealt with,  The only time that I was allowed to do anything in the forestry was to help plant young trees. I have permission
on a large farm in LLanwonno, but even that has a field that is protected, and any tresspassers are likely to be SHOT by the farmer  ;D ;D ;D

I dug with my parents in that wood (as a registered archaeological society) for 20 years and have some experience digging with the British School of Archaeology in Israel :) - so some at least :)
