Title: Any ideas Post by: diggaduff on April 19, 2014, 04:11:31 PM Hi all, set off early looking for some where to go, after a hour went back to field I considered done :) so got out the fairy stick and set off, digging was very hard and ground cracked but was surprised at what the fairy stick pulled out ;D had a few finds including a lead item I'm not sure on ??? Any ideas :)

Your right about the soil, it's gone hard. I noticed the same this afternoon. Was supposed to be digging black stuff on beach but couldn't even get into the car park. Should have known better. Ended up in my latest field and found a George 2nd Half Penny and B. all else. It's got to be a weight, can't think of anything else it could be. There are several on the Colchester site the same shape,in the Trade Weights section, but none seem to be stamped.
