Found this on the Rooksbridge rally, only recently got around to cleannig it,not sure what the design represents but i know i've seen it before, inside the rings there are four small dots, allmost like a planetary design ? any ideas would be great. Its red enamal on copper alloy and has some silvering on the back.

Thanks for the replies lads,If I'm cleaning something made from copper alloy that isn't valuable,i tend to use Citric Acid (monohydrate) available from most supermarket pharmacies, its for culinary use, home brew etc and is more or less a crystallized form of lemon juice, mix it with hot water and it will clean most deposits off. Some people use it on silver but having had a few bad reactions where the silver turned bright pink i would only recommend it on copper, and only use a very dilute amount mixed in water, and monitor the item regularly,it's not good on bronze coins either,Hope this helps,i have been perfecting this method for a long time it is very trial and error,I accept no responsibility for any mishaps ;D
