Post by: adt69 on March 04, 2014, 03:39:42 PM
Hi all
Went out with the whites eagle on some new permission had a few things only coin was the worn out one in the picture any idea what it is.
I did think it was a hammered at first as its so thin, it is smooth on the other side

Looks like William IV to me from the 1830's. Quite a scarce find.

What size is the coin?

Well done
Neil

The coin next to it is a 1928 silver six pence to give you an idea on size.

Then I deduce that it is a William IV sixpence. ;)

I bet not many members on here have found one.

Its a shame its so worn but its the best coin I have found,
The permission I got in in talybont ceredigion about 400 acres of undetected hilly pasture land.
The village has a good bit of history so I do hope a hammered will be there for me,
Anyone want to join me on this land your welcome.
