Title: Couple of Buttons for I.D.
Post by: 150aceboy on February 26, 2014, 09:59:32 PM
Found these a while ago now, but still have not been able to I.D. them.

I know the first one is The Wiltshire Regiment, but what age etc. ??

The second one has really stumped me lol.

Any help would be much appreciated, Paul ;)

Can't help with ID but 2 great finds both in lovely condition.  Button number 2 looks more like a livery button rather than military although I could be wrong.  Any big families in the area the button was found.  Cant quite see the crown but it looks like it is a marquis crown.

Thanks fella, the second button could well be a livery button, completely stumped on that one, and not sure of any Big or Well known families in the area, i'll have to look into that, cheers again m8  ;)

It could be Marquess of Northhampton (Compton family) The fire beacon crest looks very similar.  Can you make out any of the motto I cant make it out on the photo it could help confirm.  Although I don't know if they had any connection with the area you found the button in.
