Title: Chinese Coin Post by: Al.Thepastfinder, ( Alan ) on May 27, 2009, 07:19:50 AM This is a Chinese coin i found a couple of weeks ago but didn't get a chance to post it then. I couldn't see much on it so soaked it in Vinegar with a pinch of salt,

The Chinese used shells as money for years then switched to knives and hoes (full size!) In the sixth century they started to make tiny imitations which were the first true coins. The picture on Alan's coin is a stlylised hoe blade. The Nationalist government used the image on its coins prior to the communist take over.
