Title: Celtic, finds Celtic.
Post by: celticspikey on February 11, 2014, 07:46:01 PM
Well as I said in my shout out this morning I was going out despite the rain, as I set of it was bucketing down >:(. My choice of field was the stubble roman site, and upon arrival the sun had decided to shine on me in more ways than one 8). After a quick cuppa I set of into the stubble, I had not walked ten steps when the Deus gave what initially seemed an Iron type signal however there was also a more digable signal coming through and showing 65 on the screen so I decided to dig and after three spades of soil up popped my first Stater of the year :o :o , I have had staters from here before but not for a couple of seasons so I am more than please to bag this one. The second signal was a pair of tweezers followed by the usual lead and 303 ends we all get .by the end of the 4 hours I had spent here I had 2 roman grots and not one spot of rain touched the field so a great day was had ;) ;)

Cheers mate, had much lately  ;)

Hes not been out lately Paul, but chatting to the farmer today over the phone, the crop is dying off due to the constant rain, it sounds like its getting sprayed off and tipped over for a new spring crop, liner don't know yet, but I hope it don't go that way for the land owner :-\

This 11 inch coil is great to use Dale, slightly heavier but barley noticeable,as an old codger I have no problem swinging it also more depth, and coverage, I feel this year is going to be a really good for finds ;) I put a few of my own programs in to the Deus now to get the most out of my sites and I am well pleased with it.  :)

As much as I would like to acquire more land herbie, sometimes its best to stick to the fields that has produced over the years ;) that is once you have found them and acquired them, as I'm sure you know mate. ;) ;)

Can't argue with that Paul :), I'm really lucky with the land I've got and I only have to step out of the back door to be on it. The number of times I've thought that's it, I've done it and then you get a change in weather & soil conditions, a bit of ploughing and off you go again!
