Title: Newforce R1 thoughts?
Post by: Dusty on July 28, 2013, 08:41:19 PM
Anyone here used one. Can't find any reviews and only stupid depth tests on youtube. Are they cheap second hand for a reason?

I have seen the depth test chart made by the guy at Staff detectors and it was up there with some of the well knowns but I'm not sure. At the end of the day its priced the same as a second hand Garrett 250.

I've never used an R1 but a guy I know used one for years and they are coin magnets like many of the C Scopes. If it's round and down there, it'll find it

Ah that's suprised me, for a second I thought  was gonna get laughed out the forum. C Scope always seem to be the black sheep of detectors.

Was gonna opt for the CZ-5 but ebay people are hard work! Offered some seller cash outside ebay with no fee's a saving of about 40 quid but no chance, it must go via ebay?

Dusty, I think C scope is a under rated machine, personally I think the R1 will be a great starter machine. My dad had the CS 5MX about 15 years ago brand new, the old penny's, thimbles, army badges, and bits and bobs that he got is unreal, its great for pasture coin shooting, getting the £'s and old penny's but I don't think its really a site machine, its definitely one for the larger items, but I don't know about the R1, I had many hours of fun with dads and found my first roman with it ;D and that was a large one

Dusty, After looking back at your old posts I see you've had a few machines, I thought the R1 was a starter machine for you, I don't know wear I got that from ??? mixed with posts I think.
I also see you detect parks and playing fields the same detecting as my dad and I did for years the C scope was a real coin shooter and worked great for that sort of detecting its surprising how well it did.
I think the R1 may be a good choice

Ps I don't want the blame for anything tho :D

I had one for about a year and was glad to part exchange it for  CZ-7.  I think I was the problem, not the detector.  I stand  5 ft 4 in on a good day and  the stem was too long for me, even at minimum adjustment. It was never designed for the likes of me. I also found it very heavy.
It was rubbish on the beach, even on dry sand.
