found this today, anyone any ideas? i dont think its too old but i nearly had a heart attack when i was digging it as i saw gold.  :D

my guess is its some sort of cart decoration or decorative metal border?

                               The more that I looked at it, the more I thought that it looked familiar! If it is cast iron; I think that it may be a piece of decorative work from a gas fire surround; but then, I could be very wrong!

                                I bet you thought it was part of a Celtic crown, whilst you were still struggling to get it out of the ground.   :)

Nope, its not cast iron. That was one of my thoughts but the shape of it kinda points me away from that.

i did wander something like a gypsy cart?

Ah yes, mirror sounds most plausible as it looks like it was part of a large oval shape.
