Title: new v3i user advice please. Post by: monkeymad on April 28, 2013, 06:05:42 PM Hi everyone, well i took the plunge today and got a 5 month old whites v3i with the stock coil and a brand new unused sef coil looks like a 12x8 or 12x6.
i don't think its a v rated coil but is it better than the stock one? i have scoured the net but thought of you lot, anyone got one? If so could i have some advice on setting it up please, i.e. Programs to use etc. many thanks in advance. these are actually very well balanced and thus feel light. Its very detailed and will answer most if not all of your questions Happy Hunting PaulB. Title: Re: new v3i user advice please. Post by: Da Monkey on April 28, 2013, 08:37:26 PM They are a nice machine, but overall I must admit to preferring a DFX myself.
I've had a V3i since just after they came out (when they had to change the name) and only use it occasionally now as a backup machine or on the beach. The recovery speed is not so great, so I'd recommend cranking that to get as quick a recovery as possible and keep your sweep speed well down in trashy sites. Coke seems to come up at +5 on the VDI which really used to wind me up, so notch that one out if its a problem for your sites. Also there's a setting on there to make the Spectragraph display give more points (narrower fingers if you know what I mean) I prefer this to get better target definition. What version of firmware is your machine ? If you dont mind me asking how much was it secondhand ? Think it should be a good match with the SEF coil, I'm going to ask on here for more detail from anyone who has compared the 12 x 10 SEF and the 13" ultimate, I think we have discussed this before in another thread, I think DWB said there wasnt much in it, will have to search for the thread again later tonight I think... Maybe someone will post their experience... Good luck with the machine though, it's a nice bit of kit. Title: Re: new v3i user advice please.
