Title: Id your hammereds class, legends, mints
Post by: Dale on April 01, 2013, 06:25:00 PM
Hi all,
A quick post to show you a great coin book for identifying those finds, there is so much in this book from mints, classes, the different issues, distinguishing classes by reading the obverse legend, all the different crown types, rarities, common types, collecting hints and  so much more, its just a great book. The book is A4 size with over 700 pages and over 400 of them are all hammereds from 1066. The book is 1998 so don't go by the prices use your spink  as this book is no longer made.
The trouble with spink is that all the different coin types are under the same category, and they price the most common type :)

My copy was £5 off ebay

Coincraft are a London based dealership and are still in existence. I have never understood why they have never brought out another updated version of this excellent book. If you google them Dale they do  free newspaper type newsletter (The Phoenix) with their current listings of coins (and artefacts) for sale. Good if you are a collector
