If you cant get a definite ID If you give me the at least 3 readable letters from the odverse or reverse I can give you the Date the mint, full Discription and a bit of the History and maybe send you a pic of another one like it . Computers what would we do without them ;D Regards Phil Jones (Rare) Title: Re: Help with I.D & date please? On the Obverse it looks like ONPLLOCO with a right facing bearded bust then more writing on the right side of the obverse ending in AUG. I'm totally useless when it comes to coins! Thanks mate BB Title: Re: Help with I.D & date please? Post by: BottyBurp (Kris) on November 15, 2008, 05:18:18 PM Just been told who it is thanks Phil & he only ruled for 8 months!
Procopius, 28 September 365 - 27 May 366 A.D. Procopius was a general under Julian II. After the accession of Valens, Procopius led a rebellion at Constantinopolis while the emperor was in Syria. Procopius' forces were quickly defeated and he was executed shortly after. I'd never even heard of Procopius before! Title: Re: Help with I.D & date please? Title: Re: Help with I.D & date please? Post by: Neil on November 18, 2008, 02:35:54 PM Lovely coin Botty - I'm still waiting for my first silver Roman!
I would be careful with it if I was you, as it looks like the hairline crack that starts at 11 oclock runs across it. Great find - keep up the good work Neil |
