Title: Phantom targets Post by: Gwrach on March 18, 2013, 06:53:40 PM With my fisher 1235-x I seem to be getting phantom targets on the beach, it always seems to be in very wet sand with stones underneath, it comes up with a clear signal towards the iron end of the range, no matter how deep i dig i never seem to find whatever is setting it off. is this just a result of my detector not liking too much water?

Title: Re: Phantom targets Post by: jondav on March 18, 2013, 08:27:30 PM This is probably the most common complaint that detectorists find when they try their machine on the wet sand,the falsing is caused by the detector trying to compensate for the conductive wet sand,the solution is to lower the sensitivity,but by doing so you will lose depth.you could also try to set the discrimination, just above the iron level,this will go some way to balance the effects of the wet sand
