We usually have list in our heads ..Charge up batteries,waterproofs in bags,shovel and detector in bag,sandwiches,find bags ,magnifying glass,mobile phone,medication ,wellies...Do you have a extra ritual before detecting..Facing East and praying for the gold god to be nice to you  ;D..I  follow a ritual with a mate ,to detect on last day of year and the first of new year ..Its never been a sucess for me,but that beggar of a mate found a Tealby Henry 11 penny and two other lads found, one Tealby a piece on the same field....Will have pray to the Detecting Gods lol ;D

i dance around the house anti clock wise and naked with a handful of gold chanting lol :o

i usually walk backwards to detect until i find my first coin ;)

weldone al lol ;D. i do use pendulums sometimes in summer for map dowsing,dont knock it till you try it like sex with the mother in law

dunno about map dowsing, but i thoroughly recommend dowsing with rods   [98% of people can do it, but don;t ask me to explain it]

i also check if my spade is in the boot ,been caught out twice like that :)

i been caught out many times .... but it was usually playing cricket!!  ;D ;D

i was in such a rush to get to barry island ,which is 55 mile from my house .i left my etrac battery pack in the house too .i will shortly be emptying my car of rubbish,and filling it with wet weather clothes,battery packs,coils ,machines and might even put diesel in.dont know how many times if forgotten my wellies lol :)

myself and my team mates do a victory dance every time we find something good..apart from gavin ( saxon ) he just simply goes off his head.lol..ive always said if i find a gold hammered id run around the field naked..there again it would.nt be the first time.lol..

thats why  your my favourite poster ,sense of humour like mine.i used to do a gold dance but it just attracts tectorist from all over to my hotspots .cant have dat all the shiny is mine all mine i tell yooo oooooh ha ha  ;D ;).
 if i find a hammy tomorrow i will drop trow and run about the edge of the field but i aint takin my knickers off,what kind of bloke do think i am?

As on of Roman rays team mates the only trouble is if anyone finds something he always wants to give you a kiss  ;D

I think Mike now has a ritual where he we go detecting and he finds fibulae :D

I follow all your preperation like you Rob but one extra is on te field some years ago I detected with a friend who now has moved awayto a new area and on the field he would say come on you bast...ds where are you and usualy a nice find was made   In the field in my mind I often think come on hammered It does work sometimes but not alwaysSo I believe have a positive attitude and may be just maybe your thoghts will bring you Good luck Rob

Wouldn't be the first time I've detected up a suspiciously quiet field to find  the damn thing turned off, after stopping to chat doh

well i dont have any rituals as such but i always turn around at the end of the day ,  look at the fields doff my cap and say  "thank you" , always did the same when i went fishing , whether i find  / catch , dont matter , sad but true  :) :)

i do actually thank the beach too also sad but true when i get a goldie pop up
