Title: romans and bullhead today
Post by: Mike on December 02, 2012, 05:58:51 PM
spent the day down the vale on one of my favourite farms managed to winkle out a couple more romans and this bullhead shilling which when found was turned inside out like half a tennis ball , the reverse is totally blank like its been worked with a hammer or tool very odd  :-\ :-\ :-\

the mini walking stick thing looks to have a bit of age about it ( and before you start taff its not my walking stick  :D :D )

any ideas would be great thanks  :) :)

Well done Mike ;) the "walking stick" is the pin of an annular buckle

Well done Mike. The pin looks like that off an annular brooch, but I might be wrong and it could indeed be your golf club!

I would guess that possibly your shilling was in the process of being beaten into a ring.

Nice fins mate and a Roman as well

See you soon
Neil

Nice one Mike.

The one roman is a Gloria Exercitus type, Lyon mint c330AD - most likely the other one is of a similar age, as I think all the other ones you have found there have been.
