With the rain pouring and time hanging heavy, i've been looking back over the pictures i've taken of my finds this year and wondered what is your best find of the year.  I found this to be a very hard choice as i've had a few firsts .... but i eventually decided on this being my best find of the year.

I could easily say my roman hoard but i class that as a once in a lifetime find, the best find and my first significant find which i would say got me hooked would have to be my silver roman denarius with an old Ace 100 machine.

I have had gold and silver, but to me Saxon rarely comes up so it has to be this Zoomorphic strap end ;) Jerry.

WOW - some great finds there guys,  keep them coming. Everyone must have a best find, the hardest part is deciding what it is!  I very much look fwd to seeing what others post.

well this is mine , i also had a nice coin earlier in the year  ::) but this brooch does it for me , BUT  , its still november so heres hoping for something even better .

Not really been out as much this year, but I think my favourite detecting find has been the attached Venetian soldino of Nicolo Tron 1486-1538 just for the "Oh my god thats tiny factor!".

This was my best find of this year. In fact it is my best find of 19 years of detecting.

Got to be my best finds of this my first year of detecting.
Still a few weeks to add to it, bring on the rallies!

Though not the best example on the planet I do like my Gun Money Shilling. Not an every day find and just one of a number of firsts in 2012 even though illness, the weather and work has made detecting days out impossible at times.

My best find is my gold coin  George 111 half guinea 1787 :o :o

Best one probably the lizzy due to the nice portrait, iv seen quite a few with blank discs for the portrait. Nice bit of gold next year would top it...

Oh Eck! I know I've never found a jews harp but I hope my find of the year is better than that lol. I've had 7 Roman silvers this year but I can't say I've got a first or even a Wow! find so we shall see what the rally brings.

Hmm that is a toughie, really depends on your criteria is it value, rarity, age, aesthetics etc. If I really had to decide it would be the brooch, because it's a more personal thing that someone chose to buy and wear.

i know  its not gold or siver but im quite chuffed with my 2 cartwheels a big one penny and the giant twopence  :)

yes you are right mike i think this was in a purse as i found what looks like a corroded purse clasp that just disintegrated and surrounding the coin the soil was much darker

well handy man i have to say the twopence its massive.. i just cant imagine someone carrying a couple of them arround ..its also my best probably because i have also only ever found the one

yet fo find a 2p cartwheel but had 1p ones off beaches,like cartwheels but those are in amazing condition weldone
