I've finally got a day off work tomorrow (I think its in lieu of christmas 2006 or something) and there it coincides with a really big tide , low tide is at 2pm and is 0.8 meters at Cardiff. I would really like to hit a beach for an hour or two either side of low water. Any one know if there are any beaches round south wales that are worth a go along the low water line on the bigger tides.
I am tempted to go to Penarth although I have been warned about all the junk on the beach. Thing is though, once you grow tired of digging junk you can always go up onto the pier and walk round swinging your detector and coming up with ever more far fetched stories to tell people who ask you what you are doing. Until the guy from the council turns up. Then your just metal detecting, look I've got a permission from Crown Estates mate so I can detect between the high and low water lines no problem. Then hand him a big bag of bolts and tell him thats all youve found anyway and that they were buried really deep in the wood and were real buggers to get out.
