Well done Alan.

The hammered is a Berwick mint penny of Edward II, somewhere between Withers types 8 and 10, as the legend is right for type 8 and the crown looks like type 9 or 10. These were crudely made local productions, and the rough appearance is typical.

The correct orientation of the obverse is your image rotated 90 degrees clockwise.

The little scallop shell mount is nice as well - it's around 14th century.

Thanks Peter, this one was a surprise that only came apparent after i had cleaned the mud off it when i got home.

That is a lot of digging Alan. One or two nice finds in there.
Of course they don't compare to my rock splitting chisel and molten lead but at least you tried. ::) ;D ;D
