Title: Amazing what a few finds uncover.
Post by: Roast Lamb and Mint Sauce on August 05, 2012, 06:33:45 AM
Been detecting one of my permissions for a while now and a cluster of finds and a bit of building rubble led me to ask the Farmer and his son was there once a building or farmhouse in this particular field. Maps, tithe, local knowledge all drew a blank so I was sat at home after work the other night when the phone went. We got a mini digger do you want to put a hole in the field we were looking at. Uhhh yeah be there in five nothing else to do as it was seven in the evening. Anyway as you can see, yes there was a building there once and we reckon it is from the sixteen hundreds from the pottery and brick sizes. You just never know what is there.

Now thats a result. ;D

I've got a couple of fields where I think there used to be a building of some sort but can't find any reference to them.
One has been noted by Dyfed A. but they don't know what it is any more than me.  Nice that the Farmer took an interest.

Our dear blogger will now know that the hole has been refilled, pics taken and recorded and the pipe trench will now miss this part of the field and the SMR has been informed. But then again why should I tell him, He might want to know about the stone circle removed for the sake of a new golfing venture near by oh yeah did I mention the length of Offa,s Dyke being trashed by Badgers which is being left alone due to numerous reasons. It is now virtually destroyed for a good 100 metres. Or did I mention naaah lets not go there Mr B. Metal detectorists are all satans children and are the cause of everything. Happy blogging.  :-* :-*
