Different TT laws in Scotland Rob. We don't have PAS here unfortunately. Everything pre 1707 found belongs to the crown unless they decide they don't want it !! :(

yep i agree what a load of waffle ,,earlier this year i found a celtic tankard handle{bronze} even though it isnt bling apparantly there has only been 12 found in the country ,now i would have though that if the  tv moguls were after something unique and differant to flash on tv im sure that would be 1 of the finds {as well as many other unique and differant finds from all parts of the u.k},,,,OR is it lets see the bling aspect again.

Most of the finds I’ve seen so far would be in my junk box. ::) I think I will line up my toy cannons and point them at the producer.  ;D

I’ve always had this debate on other forums with those who frowned on those who sold the odd item. If you were to stumble on an Edward the Third gold Leopard worth £480,000 you are hardly likely to stick it in your top draw and forget about it, at what price would you sell.

Is it any more immoral than a bank fixing interest rates and costing everyone in the Country hundreds of pounds in interest, and paying million pound bonuses to bankers for failing to hit targets.

Politicians  buying duck ponds and second homes with tax payers money, thousands of pensioners being forced to sell their homes to fund their old age care.

Gordon Brown selling off £2.3billion of gold that would today have fetched a whopping £12.95billion. I think the odd item being sold is hardly going to bankrupt the Country, or raise an eyebrow.  ::) Apart from the likes of Paul the vexatious blogger with incredibly itchy underpants, well it's looting init!  :D

I'll admit that I wouldn't think twice about selling a coin that matches the coin weight I found.

All I've got to do is find one. ::)

As a newbie trying to buy a detector the biggest gripe I have with this program is that its turned the metal detectors themselves into 'hidden treasure'. Two weeks ago I was watching decent second hand detectors going for between 40-75% of their original value.

Now we've got idiots buying second hand machines on evil bay for upto a couple of quid below the price of a brand new machine. Admittedly these second hand ones do come with a few extras but even so, you have to be a bit simple to buy something from the evil one that you could get brand new from a reputable trader for only a couple of quid more.

My advice to all the long term detectorists is - search the attic cos you may have an unrealised piece of treasure up there. But be quick cos I have a gut feeling that in a few months time the number of used machines coming onto the market could reach tsunami proportions.

Matt

Scotland had their representation on Thursday evening.
I would be more than happy to have found any of the items shown.

Do I detect (excuse the pun) a touch of jealousy amongst you ???

JBM, she used the Deus after finding with a minelab ;D

One of the Detcting Scotland members, David Booth had his 15 seconds of fame with his gold torc bracelets the only Scottish entrant so far. I'm sure us Scot's will have a few more in Sundays top 10  :-X

It looks like my grandson Joe's silver bodkin find could be featured as it's one of only 10 shown on the BBC website:
http://www.itv.com/treasure/extras/galleryyourtreasures/ (http://www.itv.com/treasure/extras/galleryyourtreasures/)

In the Evening Post write-up which I sent them Detectingwales is mentioned, let's hope they use that too :)

Pathetic final winner as a number of these axes have been found in Europe lol The stafford hoard is unique and problalby the most important find ever made in Britain....A mate of mine e.mailed the programme with recent photos of his finds and was told bluntly they were only accepting from England /Wales...A farce lol ::) ::) ::)

I agree Rob. The Staffordshire Hoard should surely have topped the bill. But then I am no expert am I!!
